We celebrate the triumph of love, life and light over darkness and death at the start of the Astrological New Year, on the Vernal Equinox. This is a time of equal day and equal night, and in the Aquarian Age the Spring Equinox is a celebration of the Divine Lovers.

Candlemas is one of my favorite times of year, the time when in the depths of winter, I can dream of spring again, when the days wax in light and the birds return to our yard looking for food. Candlemas is the promise of the quickening not only of the seasonal year, but also the promise of desires' fulfillment.

Lammas, heat of the year, blessing of the first harvests, join us in expressing our gratitude for Mother Earth's abundance."Put the dirt as your mother!"

This is a pivotal moment in the annual cycle of seasons, a time to initiate dramatic changes in your world. Where in your world is a revolution needed?

Starting on January 22nd, we entered the magical year of the Water Rabbit, the Forest Rabbit, when the entire world is bathed in the liminal light of the in-between, the twilight time which is the natural abode of the Rabbit who sees into Heaven and Hell Realms existing beyond the everyday rational consciousness.

In 12th century southern France, “Valentine Clubs” appeared, which constituted a more playful, chivalric, and Christianized version of the ancient Roman fertility festivals. As we celebrate today’s secular version of Valentine’s Day, let us all meditate upon the origins of the Feast, and celebrate the mysteries of Love and Life that are the traditional domain of the Goddess.

The Tarot is the Yoga of the West, a system for obtaining personal enlightenment, visualizing future probabilities, and changing our inner reality to create more positive outcomes in life.

Celebrate Imbolc on Candlemas Day. Honor Brigid, goddess of fire, hearth, fields, cows, craft, childbirth and poetry on February 2nd. Invite her into your home, your heart and community. Ask for her blessing during the season of quickening, as days become longer, and we prepare for the ascent of the forces of light, celebrated at the Spring Equinox. Festivals occurring at the mid-point of a fixed sign, like Aquarius, are traditionally feasts of prognostication. The month of Aquarius is the month of the Rowan, tree of the quickening, and of prophetic visions.

As we celebrate today’s secular version of Valentine’s Day, let us all meditate upon the origins of the Feast, and celebrate the mysteries of Love and Life that are the traditional domain of the Goddess in Mystery School Traditions of both East and West!

Pagan, earth-centered religions see the Divine manifest in Nature and all of Creation, believe in the concept of immanence (the Goddess/God within), believe in the spirit which resides in all things seen and unseen and in unending cycles of birth, growth, death and renewal.

We’ve been deluged by reports of people who are stressed out, overworked, worried about money, hit with health challenges, being plunged into a transformational cauldron, and feeling overheated by it all! So it’s up to each one of us to set aside anger, fear and worry and to join together in a festival of community and community healing.
