Description
This magic lantern drawing, originally made in oil stick on arches paper is being offered as a digital print, displaying its very luminous quality. Working with my familiar palette of blues laid over a bright ground, this piece is a celebration of the liberation of the Self from the restrictions of cultural roles, archetypes and the limiting aspects of our lower minds.
Parthenogenesis means to give birth to yourself. In this picture, the iconic truncated Venus de Milo emerges triumphant out of her former wounded self, to reveal a celebratory dancing figure, radiating white light out of each hand. Down below, the wounded Venus is planted under a contrived arbor, roots beneath the ground, binding the amputated figure to polite, so called cultivated society. In the emerging figure, you can see the female organs, and a leafy central column growing along the spine to the heart. The central column within the figure continues rising up from the heart, conveying the stream of love, kundalini energy and female wisdom to the brain and the crown chakra itself.
