This gorgeous water clear Non Tarnishing Smoky Quartz Star of David Pendant features a minimalist Rhodium plated 925 sterling silver setting that displays the entire surface of the stone, front and back. It comes with an 18" sterling silver chain and a velveteen jewelry box for safe keeping.
This Star of David pendant was cut and set in Brazil from natural Brazilian quartz by Master Gemstone cutters under the guidance of Satya Center. We were meticulous in following Marcel Vogel's specifications for cutting these Star of David pendants, and we made sure that the setting did not cover any of the surface of the crystal, front or back.
Rhodium is a hard, durable, lustrous metal in the platinum family. The setting of this pendant is .925% pure sterling silver, electroplated with Rhodium, which will prevent scratching and tarnishing, and preserve the brilliance of the finish.
You should not need to clean your Rhodium plated sterling silver jewelry for years. When the time comes:
Never use chemicals, abrasives, a toothbrush, ammonia, silver dips, ultra sonic cleaners, or silver or gold polishing cloths on Rhodium plated jewelry. Instead use mild liquid detergent in warm water, with a soft organic cotton towel or microfiber cleaning cloth.
Combine 1/3 cup of a mild liquid detergent with 1 cup warm water in a bowl. Soak the rhodium-plated sterling silver jewelry in the solution for 10 minutes but never longer than 15 minutes. Then, using your fingers, gently rub the metal setting for a moment or two.
Fill another bowl with distilled or bottled room temperature water. Rinse off your jewelry gently.
Dry the washed jewelry by placing it on soft towels like 100% soft cotton—or, better still, on microfiber cloth specially made for rhodium-plated silver—and gently pat it dry.
Properties of the Star of David Pendant
The Star of David cut crystal was invented by IBM scientist and energy healer Marcel Vogel. Vogel invented the coating on computer hard drives that holds the memory. Vogel was also a renowned energy healer who created precision cut crystals intuitively, according to the principles of sacred geometry, for healing and meditation purposes.
From his experimental work with crystals, Vogel learned that by pointing a crystal at another person, the crystal would amplify the person’s thoughts and emotions. This often also led to putting the individual into an altered state of consciousness. The next step was for Vogel to utilize the quartz crystals for therapeutic purposes.

The Star of David crystals are very advanced precision tools for use in lightwork and vibrational healing.
The Star of David crystals have two sides. The front is flat and has an upward pointing triangle. The back is fatter and has a downward pointing triangle.
The front face is the male face, and it transmits light energy.
The back face is the female face, and it receives light energy.
When you wear the Star of David pendant, you put the female side next to your heart, and the male side is pointing out, away from your body. When you see the translucent crystal from the front it appears to have a Star of David engraved on it, because of the two triangles cut into the faces.
This way, the female, receptive side of the crystal will pick up the energy coming from your heart, the crystal will transmute that energy into a very high frequency vibration, and the male side of the crystal will radiate that high frequency light energy in all directions around you, enveloping you and filling your aura with the cleansing, healing energy. This strengthens your aura and helps protect your from unwanted, intrusive energies of all kinds in your environment.
In addition, you can actively use the Star of David cut crystal in healing energy work.
For instance, if you have a favorite essential oil or flower essence, and you would like to deliver it to a particular part of your body for healing purposes, this is what you would do.
Take the oil or flower essence and put a drop or two on the female side of the crystal. Place the crystal male side down on the part of the body you wish to treat. Place your hand over the female side of the crystal and direct your life force energy into the crystal from the chakra in the palm of your hand. Pray for healing.
The female side of the crystal will pick up the subtle energies from the flower essences, the crystal will amplify the energy, and combine that healing energy with the energy from your palm chakra and from Source. Then the male side will radiate that energy through the male side of the crystal into the affected area.
You can do this for yourself and for others.

Mineralogical and Metaphysical Properties of Smoky Quartz
Mineralogists say there may be more than one cause for the gray to brown to black color range of this very popular form of quartz crystal, ranging from sodium to other minerals in the crystal. According to Melody ("Love is in the Earth"), smoky quartz is produced by the presence of sodium in clear crystal, facilitating the regulation of fluids in the body, acting much like a mineral supplement bringing mineral equilibrium.
Other mineralogists suggest other theories concerning the dark pigment in smoky quartz, including the presence of trivalent titanium or the presence of carbon compounds.
Some mineralogists suggest that the characteristic dark brown to black color of smoky quartz is produced when clear quartz is exposed to natural radiation emanating from radioactive rocks in the same geological formation where the quartz crystals form and grow. The current scientific hypothesis is that when clear quartz is exposed to radiation, the radiation alters the oxidation states of mineral impurities found within the quartz structure, resulting in smoky quartz.
“The frequent occurrence of smoky quartz in association with rare earth and radioactive minerals is very significant, for later it will be indicated that smoky quartz may have been colored through the action of radioactive elements,” says the University of Michigan’s Edward F. Holden, in a 1925 article in The American Mineralogist. “In Ontario smoky quartz is a constant associate of radioactive minerals,6 and the same association is frequent in Madagascar. Enormous smoky quartz crystals occur in the well known radioactive pegmatite of Baringer Hill, Texas.”
“The evidence given thus far is in agreement with the theory that smoky quartz owes its color to atoms of silicon, formed by the disintegration of silica, through the action of radium radiations,” Holden continues. “The mechanism of the formation of the free silicon may perhaps be pictured in this way: The radiations may remove the four outer electrons from a silicon atom, which would then be equally shared by the two associated oxygen atoms. As a result, two free oxygen atoms and a free silicon atom would be formed. They could take no part in the crystal structure since their attractive force for other atoms would have been destroyed. Hence, they should act as small inclusions, the silicon atoms producing the light-scattering and the color so characteristic of smoky quartz. We would expect the silicon atoms to be most effective in scattering light because of their greater atomic weight, and the possibility of the escape of the oxygen atoms.”
From this scientific analysis it is clear that smoky quartz, although quite likely formed through the action of radioactive elements, is not radioactive itself, and this perfectly natural process is not detrimental to the crystals or to human beings utilizing these crystals for ornamentation, in meditation, for crystal healing, or for any other purpose.
