Welcome to the February 2017 Full Moon Eclipse in Leo, Aquarius Solar Festival edition of the Satya Center Cosmic Weather Forecast.
This week in South Florida Jane and I are planting six kinds of greens, beans, beets, and carrots and harvesting greens, handfuls of beans and herbs. The garden is full of flowers -- three kinds of marigolds, calendula, roses, heliconia, orchids in trees and in the ground, purple mist, pentas and more! Days are in the high 70s to low 80s with lows at night in the mid-60s. Humidity is blissfully low. Wow! No wonder snowbirds flock here this time of year! Aquarian Festivals of Love and Light 2017 This Friday, February 10, at the time of the Full Moon, we celebrate the Aquarian Solar Festival. February is the Aquarian month, and spiritual traditions East and West celebrate a variety of Festivals focusing on fertility, love and the healing power of the Goddess. February 2017 Cosmic Weather Forecast This month the sky is filled with signs and portents of earth-shaking change, some hopeful, some ominous, and the energy streaming in to us from the Cosmos is so powerful that we are challenged to maintain our equilibrium. The task of humanity at this Full Moon is to step forward into the Light with courage. The courageous are not necessarily fearless at all. The courageous are those who follow their Higher Purpose despite their fear! The cosmic weather patterns for the entire month of February are dominated by an ongoing T-Square between Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn. On February the 8th, the Moon entered Cancer, squaring the other Cardinal signs, and formed yet another iteration of the Grand Cardinal Cross aspects that dominate the early part of the 21st Century. The Grand Cardinal Cross signals the end of the Industrial Era of HydroCarbon Empires, and the ongoing crisis following the implosion of the current neo-liberal global financial and political systems. This decade also marks the beginning of a new, as yet unknowable era of human civilization featuring intensive global climate change, the breakdown of nation-states, reflexive ultra-nationalist movements, resource wars, and extreme environmental events. There is a very positive Grand Fire Trine this week to counterbalance the energies of the Cardinal T-Square occurring at this Full Moon. Venus and Mars are both in Aries, with Moon in Leo and Saturn in Sagittarius, creating the Grand Fire Trine. The Grand Fire Trine creates an atmosphere of self-confidence and optimism that is essential to taking the dramatic actions required to offset the difficulties manifested in synchronicity with the Cardinal T-Square and Grand Cardinal Cross. These effects persist over long periods of time through intransigent conflicts, political gridlock and general indecision. So wherever you feel stuck in your life, wherever you feel that you are hung up, hung out to dry and unable to move forward, move up or move out of seemingly inescapable contradictions and conflict, summon your inner fire and let Spirit’s unstoppable subtle flame utterly consume the roadblocks in your life!
Tune in to the energy of the Grand Fire Trine in your meditations and prayers and ask to be uplifted by the outpouring of the Triple Flame of the Enlightened Heart this Full Moon week and your sincere efforts will surely be rewarded. Do not let the array of personal and global difficulties endemic to this decade derail you from your spiritual practices or the daily practice of kindness or deter you from making your best efforts to achieve your goals in harmony with your Higher Purpose. Full Moon Eclipse in Leo This month a penumbral lunar eclipse accompanies the Full Moon at 22° Leo occurring on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 7:33 PM EST or 4:33 PM EST. The eclipse creates a Cosmic occlusion of the energies streaming from the moon as the Earth’s shadow engulfs a portion of the lunar light. The flow of subtle energies flowing from the Moon is disrupted by the lunar eclipse, and in particular, according to ancient Vedic tradition, the Sattvic component of that energy flow is greatly diminished while the energies of Rajas and Tamas are greatly increased. Sattva, Rajas and Tamas are the three Gunas, or qualities of Universal Life Force Energy that determine the characteristics of Universal creation on the macroscopic level and the characteristics of the individual human being’s mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health and well-being, on the Earth plane. Sattvic energy is the high spiritual energy of creation, associated with peace, tranquility and equilibrium, while Rajas is the aggressive fiery energy of creation, and Tamas is the leaden energy of inertia and entropy, and hence, of destruction. Since a lunar eclipse creates elevated levels of Rajas and Tamas, it is most important for spiritual practitioners of all paths and traditions to shield themselves from the energy of the occluded moon, and to increase the quality and quantity of their spiritual practices to elevate the subtle Sattvic energies in their own bodies, homes, and meditation spaces. It would be wise to avoid looking directly at the occluded full moon if possible, during a period of several hours before and after the moment of complete fullness. Although this Full Moon has some challenging aspects to it, we are all being given a golden opportunity to focus on the spiritual meaning of the Leo Sun - Aquarius Moon opposition this week, and through this waking meditation we will find Guidance that will help enable us to maintain our equilibrium in these trying times. Leo is all about Me. My Self. Self as Star, and the development of will forces within the personality. The quintessential egoistic personality. Aquarius is all about Us. Our Group. Our Common Ground, and the development of Right Human Relations through the difficult practice of working in groups for common goals of vast importance. Within individuals the Aquarian energy stream harmonizes with and activates the activity of Higher Mind and Higher Purpose, so that the limitations of the egoistic personality may be overcome and the deficiencies and bad habits of the egoistic self may be transformed.
Now is the time to re-examine how we harmonize our own needs, our own individual Higher Purpose, with the need to work with others on common goals. Now is the time to look beyond our own narrow self-interest and understand how our own well-being is totally dependent upon right relations with others, and upon a host of collective thought-forms, emotions and actions that dwarf our own individualities. Examples of such collective energy fields include the hive mind of the stock markets; the ideological systems of political parties designed to induce conformity among their memberships; the ancestral blood karma that forms much of the collective consciousness of various races and ethnicities; the militant patriotism and incipient militarism exhibited by all types of nationalisms; the righteous intolerance and rigid moral systems inherited from antiquity typical of fundamentalist religious groups; the ingrained set of intellectual pre-conceptions and mental maps of the world formed by members of the highly segregated economic classes in our society; or the learned role playing that defines our gender and sexual identities at an early age. We are asked at this Full Moon Festival to meditate upon the Web of Social Connections that define our own identities, and to ask ourselves whether we are able to maintain our own individual Higher Purpose while working within the social parameters defined by the social groupings with which we identify. We are asked to meditate deeply upon these collective energy fields and thought-forms that shape our consciousness, our personalities, and our day-to-day activities in all areas of life. We are asked to ponder whether we are best served by participating uncritically in these collective energy fields or whether we must perhaps begin to break free from these inherited traits and behaviors and pre-conceptions in order to best be of service to humanity as a whole. We are asked to question whether we are sufficiently aware of the needs of the Group, of Humanity as a whole, as we pursue our own personal path of Spirit and our own Higher Purpose. We are asked to remember the importance of manifesting the energy of Right Human Relations. More than ever before in human history a Balance must be restored; between the rich and the poor; between male and female; between East and West; between North and South; between Christian and Moslem, and Jew and Hindu; between humanity and the Realms of Nature. We are reminded that it is only through the Aquarian virtues of respect for others and selfless service for the good of the Whole that we will be able to restore the Balance that is required to serve as a Foundation for the creation of a new set of social, political, economic and spiritual relations for suffering Humanity and the health of our home planet, Earth. My Inner Guides and Teachers have asked me to ask you all to meditate upon these concepts during this Full Moon weekend. They assure me that if any one of us asks to be given vivid examples, pictures, and demonstrations of these important Wisdom Teachings being energized by the Cosmic Energies of this month's Full Moon, the Universe stands ready to oblige. This is a variation on meditations taught by Shri Yukteswar and Drunvalo Melchizedek. Go outside and engage with the sun. This beautiful meditation will help you drink in the love and light emanating from the Sun. Begin your day with a few minutes of silent contemplation as you lie on your back with your eyes closed or better yet seated in a chair, or in half lotus position. I have also done this meditation in a half lotus seated under a tree or walking mindfully in a garden.
