Crow Full Moon
Happy Full Crow Moon and Happy Spring!! This year the March Full Moon in Pisces was last Sunday at 10:08 am Pacific time. The Vernal Equinox arrives on March 20th at 9:57 am PST.
We hope that this sacred first day of Spring helps you to ground some of the energies we initiated last Full Moon and work to deepen the alchemical transformation we’ve begun.
Last month we talked about transforming the lead of our negatively charged emotional bodies into the golden and iridescent energies of inspiration, magic and higher mind in order to combat the lethargy produced by feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, fear and loss.
We spoke about love leading us to the threshold of change, to find new ways of being in the world, of being in our own bodies and of being with one another.
Spring is a potent time to reconnect with the seeds of change and creativity. Spring is the time for inspiration. Inspiration literally means to breathe in! From the Latin inspirare, meaning the “immediate influence of God or a god”.
Springtime is the time for us to expand and become inflamed through Divine Intervention!!
At this time of year, as with no other, we are always offered the chance of a new beginning. We are given fresh chances to create and welcome change into our lives.
Spring is the time of the renewal of the earth and likewise, we can offer this same opportunity to ourselves. We all rejoice when we see those first signs of spring, when we sense as well as see our Mother Earth’s vital energies!
The first bright crocuses and snowdrops emerge from their snow and ice cover with their frilly and fancy blooms cheer us immeasurably if we live in a winter climate.
If you live in a mild climate, like we do in the greater Bay Area of California, you know that spring has been with us now for several weeks. The mild weather is evidenced in the fields of bright chartreuse wild mustard all around us out here in the hills of Antioch. It’s a psychedelic reminder of the imperative of springtime!! WAKE UP!!
Curtis and I are continuously amazed as we watch our hills turn from brown to green as if by magic. From the pitiful rain events we had (or rather didn’t have this winter), our jasmine bushes and pink flowering Breath of Heaven are in full bloom and the new fig tree we planted at the height of the heat last summer somehow found its way in our little garden.
Our little fig rooted itself and is putting out a dozen new leaves. I am going to take this as a personal sign that new growth is possible even amidst many trials and against great odds.
This little spindly fig tree offers me hope for the future even when my life’s challenges seem overwhelming.
We have been deeply challenged these four years since we moved from upstate NY to California. It seems this has been the era of the death and dying of the fathers for Curtis and I. We both lost our fathers, my father to a fast moving cancer and we watched Curtis’ father these last four years as he was in a terrible decline, restricted to his bed in the nursing home, as reality became more and more amorphous.
Philip Lang just died last month on February 9th and because we are still mourning the loss of him, this letter this moon and Vernal Equinox, is very short.
I feel so odd as I write the words, “lost our fathers” as though we’d misplaced them, but lost in the truest sense of feeling displaced and disoriented from their deaths.
I enclose the poem by anonymous we used for his memoriam, which I think speaks to us all whether or not we have lost someone dear to us.
In Memoriam Philip Lang
Immortality
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there...I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift upflinging rush
of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry...
I am not there. I did not die.

Spring Equinox Celebrations and Meditations
Our springtime articles are up on our homepage now.
“The Archangel Raphael reigns over spring. Raphael commands a myriad of spirits who work on the regeneration and growth of vegetation. So at the beginning of spring establish a bond with the Archangel Raphael. Ask him to make you receptive to the virtues hidden in trees, grasses and flowers, so that this new life penetrates you as well.” See the article, “Spring Equinox: the Archangel Raphael Meditation”.
“We celebrate the triumph of love, life and light over darkness and death at the start of the Astrological New Year, on the Vernal Equinox. This is a time of equal day and equal night, and in the Aquarian Age the Spring Equinox is a celebration of the Divine Lovers.” See our article, “Spring Equinox Mysteries and History”.
You can always read more about the Divine Lovers here at our site as well. “Our task in the New Age is to return to the Garden of Eden within us and to restore the Garden of Eden planet around us. To do that men and women must end the war between the sexes and become loving partners.” Read the full chapter “Back to the Garden Part 8: The New Age of the Divine Lovers”.
And we’ve also reposted my (East Coast) “The Lazy Gardener’s Spring Cilantro Pesto”. “I am such a lazy gardener that I had the good fortune this spring to discover a veritable emerald forest of 'volunteer' young cilantro seedlings in the vegetable bed! Upon this serendipitous discovery I created a delicious way to make use of this delicious, nutritious & fragrant herb.”
I also recommend looking up at the sky on a clear late evening to see the handle of the Big Dipper pointing east, a sure sign of spring. “Since the North Star is the star most in line with the Earth’s axis, it becomes the “pivot of the sky”, with other stars and constellations – most directly the Big Dipper - appearing to revolve around it. The Handle of the Big Dipper points to the four directions as we go through the seasons of the year,” says Claire Cunneen in her great article on “Traveling with the Big Dipper”, an inspiring read!
So as we celebrate the return of the spring and new beginnings, remember to love yourself. Love your lover, love your family and your children as best you are able. I recommend that you don’t allow the perfect to be the enemy of the good this spring and allow yourself to find love where you least expect it.
For me, seeing the annual springtime demonstration of that ever-present, now quickening life force, which is stronger than any war, any hatred, any fear, is sometimes all the remembering and knowing I need. Other days I might need more reminders. So here are a few reminders to take away as we move into spring.
May spring bloom in your heart and your life!
Jane’s Springtime Remembrance
Remember to breathe.
Remember to smile.
Remember to smile when you are sad. Look in the mirror, it’s always a good way to see how serious you are and can usually help lighten the moment, may even make you laugh!
Remember to make eye contact with the people with whom you interact each day. They may have problems too.
Remember to be kind and gentle with yourself every bit as much as to others.
Remember that although money is very important and may solve some problems, it will not make you happy.
Remember that YOU have to live with all the choices you make.
Remember that all the choices you make impact others around you.
Remember love is the best medicine.
Remember or figure out what is most important to you.
And then remember that!!
Breathe it in.
Breathe worry out.
Breathe love in.
Have an inspired Springtime!
With Love & Blessings,
Jane & Curtis
