This 2.375 inch diameter Winnipeg Selenite Sphere, weighing 272 grams, or substantially more than 1/2 pound, is a unique find from Winnipeg, Canada. Expertly mined, it comes to us intact in all of its biomorphic beauty. These gypsum rosettes have a unique sweetness to them, and it is as if a great guardian spirit inhabits each sphere. These are powerful crystal allies, protectors for your home or office.
The surface of the sphere is covered with multiple golden selenite points. With its array of golden points & 'wings' radiating out in every direction, this piece is an outstanding specimen of the lovely Winnipeg Selenite formation.
These gorgeous gypsum rosettes are formed when water flowing underground through clay deposits with substantial sand content evaporates, forming these rare rose shaped formations. The elongated golden points, called satin spar, are flattened crystals that form along the crystallographic "c" axis, and exhibit a characteristic yellowish-golden color, imparted by the sand in the water table where they grow.
Winnipeg selenite rosettes display a brownish coloration, which resonates with the energy signature of the root chakra, imparting a felt sense of protection and security against ambient negative energies, emotions and thought forms in the environment around the stones.
This specimen displays such a profusion of golden crystal points radiating from the center of the sphere, that the rosette within is totally hidden, although you can see some of the brown coloration normally seen in the rosette displaying as matrix visible in the small spaces between the golden yellow crystal spars.
The yellow-golden color of the crystalline formations protruding from the central gypsum rosette, sometimes called "duckbill crystals", resonates with the third chakra, associated with the color yellow in the Western chakra system, and with the crown chakra, associated with the color gold in the Western chakra system.
So these remarkable crystal formations strengthen the will forces gathered in the area of the third chakra, and connect us to the Higher Mind through the crown chakra.
