This month's Spring Spiritual Festival is all about getting social!
Welcome to the Gemini Solar Festival and the Sagittarius Full Moon, June 7, 2009 edition of the Satya Center newsletter. Warm greetings from your Editor, Curtis Lang and your co-editor, Jane Sherry.
This Sunday, June 7, the sun is at 18˚ Gemini and the moon is full at 18˚ Sagittarius, at 11:12 am Pacific Daylight Time, or 2:12 pm Eastern Daylight Time.
This Full Moon was known to the Algonquin Indian tribes as The Strawberry Moon, that festive time of year for picking ripe strawberries in the field. Europeans called it the Rose Moon, and this is the month when roses appear on the East Coast of the United States as well.
Here in the Hudson River Valley we are stunned by the beauty that surrounds us.
We are eating lettuce from our garden and making cilantro pesto and other exotic garnishes from early bloomers like dandelions and violets.
Here on the East Side of the River, where we get more sun than they do in the mountains on the other side of the Hudson, it seems that most vegetation is a week or two ahead of normal growth.
We had a few days of August sun and heat a few weeks ago and it seems to have fooled the plants into thinking they should rush through their life-cycle, because they may have missed something.
Three or four varieties of roses in the gardens immediately around the house spread their perfume in the same airspace as some huge and intensely aromatic cream colored irises, but they are all dwarfed by fast-growing, high-climbing, swiftly proliferating exotic grasses. The flowering Diabolo (physocarpus opulifolius Diabolo) in front of the living room window already tips the roofline and blossoms in bursts of pink globes of light against the maroon leaves.
We’ve got massed groupings of lavender and yellow irises circling half the vegetable garden, scatterings of forget-me-nots hugging the ground, and low-blooming marigolds circling the other half of the veggie bed, while peonies begin to open under a nearby tree.
We have so much to be grateful for this spring. And one small source of our gratitude is that we are able to give ourselves more time in our gardens this year. We are feeling drawn to expand our social circle. This social expansion feels good. We are finding that we just happen to run into people who feel like family more and more often. And so goodwill spreads among us.
This June Full Moon is the time of the Festival of Humanity, also known as the Festival of Goodwill.
This is the third of the three great spring festivals of the Universal Interfaith Spirituality of the New Age.
The first festival of Easter occurs in April and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The second festival in May celebrates the birth of the Buddha, his enlightenment and death, and is called Wesak. Wesak was celebrated during last month’s full moon. The June Festival of Humanity is the third.
The Will of God for the upcoming year was received and distributed by the Buddha last month at Wesak and has been held in trust by the Christ, and the Ascended Master Hierarchy since that High Holy Day.
At this time, that energy, which combines the Love and Wisdom of the Buddha and the Christ, is released to flow through humanity and all of Earth’s kingdoms at this Gemini festival, also known as the Festival of Humanity or the Festival of Goodwill. At this time, the Wisdom Teachings of the East and the West manifest as One.
During Sunday’s Festival of Humanity, the love of Christ and the wisdom of the Buddha are showered down upon the Earth. At this time, spiritual disciples of all paths and lineages and religions around the world receive inspiration and instructions concerning their roles and duties for the upcoming year.
The Hierarchy of Spiritual Guides and Teachers overseeing humanity’s spiritual evolution join with the Cosmic Christ and provide a roadmap of the coming seasonal cycle to all disciples, planting the seeds for all the spiritual activities that disciples are being urged to undertake during the next year.
Most importantly, the Hierarchy and the Cosmic Christ engulf the entire planet with a powerful high-frequency energetic charge known as The Will to Good, which is distributed through powerspots around the world to all willing recipients. This energy acts as a powerful stimulant, strengthening the will forces in struggling humanity, and acts as a beneficent power surge, impelling disciples on all paths to internalize the energy of Goodwill, to act with Goodwill toward all, and to strive to establish right human relations in all their activities.
The energy released on the Full Moon Festival of Humanity circulates throughout the etheric body of planet Earth for three full nights and days.
During that time disciples, seekers, Lightworkers, meditators, and all people of Goodwill are challenged by the spiritual hierarchy to become willing channels for the outpouring of high-frequency energy being channeled to Earth during this beautiful Spring Festival.
Look for opportunities to share love, wisdom and strength of will with others for the best and highest good of all concerned. Then simply act to do whatever your heart tells you is right.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 18˚ Sagittarius is, “Children playing on the beach, their heads protected by sunbonnets.”
Our world is a playful creation of the Divine, according to the Wisdom Teachings of the Vedas. Our universe is a manifestation of that lila, a dance of joy, a play of light and a Divine delight. And in our world, the light gives life. The Source of that life and that light is the Sun. The sun is bright and fierce, and it can heal, burn, nurture and destroy all at the same time. Small wonder that Ancient Wise Ones describe the Divine as solar in nature.
But the Wisdom Teachings of the East and West protect the aspirant, the disciple and the initiate from spiritual, mental, emotional and physical “burn-out”, just as children’s parents might give them sunbonnets to protect them from the sun on a cloudless day at the beach during late springtime when the breeze is cool and even adults get sunburned before they realize what has happened.
During this time of turbulent global transformation and accelerated spiritual development for all of humanity, it is essential that each one of us remain deeply connected to our spiritual Guides and Teachers, and in harmony with our own inner spiritual guidance. The best way to do that is through daily spiritual practices, participation in group practices, and contact with our Guides and Teachers, and with advanced spiritual beings of all Wisdom Traditions currently incarnated upon this planet.
So we can take this Sabian Symbol of the Gemini Solar Festival of 2009 as a kind of warning from the Universe that this upcoming year we will all be called upon to help one another, spiritually. We must take care of the children. And we are all each other’s children. If you believe in reincarnation, this is more literally true, especially for old souls.
Those of us with more conscious spiritual practices will be called upon to help others to develop themselves more rapidly. No matter who we are, no matter what level of spiritual development we have attained, there is always another person nearby who needs our help. We need only be willing to serve.
In addition to the spiritual meaning, a very important keynote for the coming year can be detected in this symbol. The most important issue facing humanity this year is the environment, and especially global warming.
We must individually and collectively open our eyes to the earth-changes transforming our planet as a result of our own activities, and we must begin to totally understand the consequences for our children, and we must act now to completely change humanity’s way of life, which is so self-destructive, and which is also destroying so many species of living beings that scientists are referring to “mass die-offs” in this century comparable to global catastrophes such as the obliteration of the dinosaurs.
It is up to us as a human family to protect our children’s environment, to provide them with safe and secure living spaces. In a time of rampant global warming and thinning of the ozone layer, will sunbonnets be enough to protect our children? What are we doing to protect the environment our children will inhabit? These are questions to ponder during this Sunday’s meditation.
The Sabian symbol for the Sun at 18˚ Gemini is, “Two Chinese men converse in their native tongue in an American city,” with the keyword INSULATION.
This is a clue to those of us who are attempting to create a culture of peace and harmony with nature. For we are not yet the mainstream of society, but a minority who appear as foreign to most Americans.
The mainstream of American culture belongs to rational materialists, irrational fundamentalists, ultra-coiffed talking heads, ultra-patriotic militarists, and myopic corporate chieftains who do not see beyond their own self-interest, and who find it in their best self-interest to keep the deadly gears of the current unsustainable global economic and political system greased and running – right off the rails of planetary sustainability for human civilization.
As in the time of Jesus, those who seek to overthrow the gross inequities and barbaric dominator politics of the current Imperium are in the minority. But today there are multitudes around the world who sincerely desire to establish a new society based upon fulfilling human need and not upon maximizing human greed. And in the etheric and astral realms, these multitudes are beginning to shine with a bright light that will change the world!
Those of us who hold hope for higher consciousness and work to find new ways of living lightly and equitably in and on the world must seek out one another, in our own neighborhoods, for where we gather, the light gathers, and the gathering of the light shall overcome all darkness.
Jesus said “For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew, 18:20).
Let us all make it a priority to engage in group spiritual practices this month, especially during Sunday’s Full Moon! The energy will be exponentially higher as you add members to your group practice.
This Full Moon in Sagittarius makes a mutable T-square with Saturn in Virgo, reminding all of us to be ultra-realistic in our personal and our collective lives, and in our plans for the future.
Our sincere desire for humanity’s Ascension to a higher consciousness can only be fulfilled if we as a global family can learn to live together in harmony. War cannot be a solution to any of our problems. Only universal brotherhood and sisterhood can overcome the effects of wars, environmental degradation, global warming, oil and resources depletion, and an exploding global human population during a time of mass species die-offs.
Sharing and co-operation can only occur when humanity’s leaders shift into a higher consciousness. Their consciousness is now centered in the third chakra, and their experience is one of personal power. Exploitation and manipulation are simply the way their unawakened third chakra power center manifests in the world.
It is up to the great masses of people throughout the world to elevate their own energies to a higher level of consciousness. It is time for us to gather together in ones or twos or larger groups, and open our hearts to one another and to the Universal Human Family.
When human consciousness shifts to the more elevated energies of the heart chakra, power struggles of all kinds can be resolved much more easily. Together we can elevate the denser energy fields comprising the mainstream collective consciousness and together, in our group meditations, we will find new ways to co-create a heart-centered global human society that will replace today’s war-of-all-against-all individualism.
This is the Ascension path toward a New World Order founded upon right human relations and Divine inspiration. This is the true meaning of Ascension, an elevating of the kundalini energy within the human body from the third to the fourth chakras – and then beyond.
The elevation of the kundalini energy opens the heart, triggers a compassionate response to life, and activates the Higher Mind and Higher Mind gives us expanded access to the Akashic Records, along with visions of templates for a new social order that lives in harmony with the Earth and for the benefit of all.
Our expansive visions for a new Aquarian Aeon and a new environmentally sustainable, peaceful, 21st century world culture depend on wise stewardship of the world’s resources and the establishment of a culture of respect for the Divine Mother in her incarnation as the Planetary Goddess Earth, also known as Gaia.
Let us gather together and meditate upon the wise use of resources and on ways we can be of service to humanity in our neighborhoods, our schools, our workplaces, and in our interactions with others in the broader world around us.
Let us ask the Divine Mother to reveal her deepest needs to us, so we can begin to repair the damage we’ve done to Her beautiful Web of Life, and honor her with our gifts.
Let us spend this Full Moon Sunday in gratitude to Her and to Grandmother Earth.
All those who wish to participate in this Sunday’s Festival of Humanity would do well to set aside some time during the evening of the Full Moon and for the next two nights for deep meditation.
To enhance your receptivity to these beneficent energies try these activities on the three nights of the Festival beginning with the Full Moon on Sunday:
1. During the time prior to the full Moon, accelerate your spiritual practice as much as possible. Attempt to remain somewhat more quiet than normal. Listen to some uplifting spiritual music, chants or mantras. Or simply make some silent time.
2. In the room where you meditate, place a crystal bowl full of Wesak water on the altar or nearby you – if you gathered it last month, or use spring water or filtered water when possible.
Light a candle and some incense if you have these available. Play some appropriate uplifting music. Meditate during the evening hours whenever you have the time to do so. Ask for the grace and guidance you need to achieve your loftiest spiritual goals. Ask that you be ever more consciously connected to inner spiritual guidance. Ask that you be given golden opportunities to be of maximum service in the world.
Tune in to inner guidance and be alert for messages concerning the nature of your Higher Purpose and how it can best manifest during the upcoming year.
3. Recite the Great Invocation:
THE GREAT INVOCATION
From the point of light within the Mind of God
Let Light stream forth into our minds
Let LIGHT descend on Earth.
From the point of love within the Heart of God
Let Love stream forth into our hearts
May LOVE increase on Earth.
From the center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide our wills –
The PURPOSE which the masters know and serve.
From the center which we call Humanity
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door
where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Let LIGHT and LOVE and POWER
Restore the Planet Earth!
If you go to bed before the actual Full Moon moment, say the Great Invocation before retiring. Give thanks. During the three days of the Festival open your heart to those in need. Remember Christ’s teaching that any act of healing or kindness performed on behalf of any of your brothers and sisters is being performed for Christ himself. Recognize the Christ within all your neighbors, your family, your loved ones, your coworkers, and strangers you meet in the course of your day. Perform random acts of kindness.
Curtis and Jane in Philadelphia in 1980 |
Your editors, Jane Sherry and Curtis Lang, wish you good meditation, a loving and joyous Full Moon, and abundant energy to carry you along your Spiritual path during the coming year.
Note from Curtis: Jane Sherry and I have had many past life regressions, separately and together, starting in 1980 and extending through the last few years, and in all cases we remembered the same lifetimes. Our stories fit together like pieces of a four dimensional jigsaw puzzle, complementary but in no way contradictory.
We married in 1986, and have enjoyed a spiritual partnership since that time. You can contact us by sending email to admin@satyacenter.com. Here we are in the garden this spring.
